‘New Blood’ puts the player in the shoes of Phoebe, a new intern at the recently rebuilt Little Creek Hospital. Together with her best friend Mac and new colleagues Seth, she will need to learn what it entails to be a doctor in a smalltown hospital.
This is the opening scene from the game. The <i> marks thoughts instead of dialogue spoken out loud.

| Phoebe | <i> Wow, this place still smells of fresh paint! </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> And there is the photo of the original building, before it burnt down. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> Look at the faces of those doctors. I wonder how many of them were interns. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> And how many of them I will meet here. Well, I know I’ll meet at least one… </i> |
| Two surgeons walk past, a nurse is helping a patient out of a wheelchair. | |
| Soaking in the atmosphere, you’re deciding what to make of this place. | |
| Phoebe | Little Creek… |

| Phoebe | <i> Including Allison Heart – I’m so lucky to have her as my resident! </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> She was an intern herself at Little Creek. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> While the hospital was burning, she was still trying to save patients… </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> They were right to rebuild this hospital. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> Hopefully I’ll become as famous as Allison, one day – but without having to run through fires, preferably! </i> |

| Phoebe | <i> Financial issues, management problems, and to top it all off, the building burned down!</i> |
| Phoebe | <i> But everyone deserves a new start, and hospitals too.</i> |
| Phoebe | <i> Don’t forget, some of the best doctors of the country worked here. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> Allison Heart, my resident, used to be an intern at Little Creek. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> She did some amazing things, so hopefully I’ll learn a lot from her. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> I’m definitely planning on adding something positive to this hospital! </i> |

| Phoebe | <i> Weird things have happened at Little Creek. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> Financial problems, management problems, doctors who didn’t exactly go by the rules… </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> It’s a miracle they actually rebuilt the hospital. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> But on the other hand, some of the best doctors did work here. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> And if the amazing doctor Allison Heart has returned here, something must be right. </i> |
| Phoebe | <i> I will definitely help to make this place into the best hospital around! </i> |
After this, Phoebe looks around some more and eventually enters the locker room, where she puts on her white coat (and the player gets some choices on her hairdo). Continuing after that:

| Malcolm | If I already got you scared, I’d hate to think what the patients will do to you! |
| Phoebe | Very funny! Your locker is over there. |
| Phoebe | <i> Mac, or well, Malcolm, is one of my oldest friends. We’ve known each other since forever. </i> |
| Phoebe | Get your coat on, you don’t want to be late on your first day. |
| Malcolm | Don’t worry, we have plenty of time. |
| Phoebe | I love how you’re always so optimistic. |
| Malcolm | Worrying has never helped anyone. |
| Phoebe | Try telling that to my brain. |
| Malcolm | You aced all of your exams, nothing wrong with your brain! Let’s go. |
| Mac’s remark takes you by surprise. You decide to change the subject. | |
| Phoebe | Do you know… |

After the choices are resolved, Malcolm and Phoebe leave the locker room to meet up with Doctor Allison Heart, and start their first workday…
