LILY’S GARDEN

F2P mobile narrative driven game, 2 million active users weekly, had been running for 2,5 years before I was asked to take over as game director

Impact

  • Restructured the production timeline from delivering ‘just in time’ for weekly release to delivering two weeks ahead of weekly release date.
  • Got the full story team back on track again. Improved morale and quality of work. Hired and fired where needed.
  • Revitalised the game by introducing new features, gameplay elements and visual improvements. This had not happened in a while and increased player retention numbers. Some of these new features have later been implemented in other Tactile games as well.

Additional Fact

  • Achieved all this while working remote, first in the same European timezone as the Danish office but later while on PST. Even though I moved to Canada, Tactile did not want to lose me for the company.

RABBIT HOLE

Large immersive theatre play about teens and radicalization, European tour 2023/2024/2025, worked as narrative design director

Impact

  • Was able to transform the ideas of long-running respected theatre group Toneelmakerij into a holistic design that connected theme, interactivity and technology.
  • Introduced the concept of narrative design to all members of the European Theatre Convention and revolutionized their way of thinking about digital innovation.
  • Wrote case study ‘Engage—Test—Change: Designing New Audience Relations’ for the prestigious OAMK Journal at the request of ACuTe Culture Testbeds for Performing Arts and New Technology.

  • I have done advisory work for other European theatre companies and artists who want to incorporate technology and/or game design elements in their work as well.

CRIMINAL MINDS,
THE MOBILE GAME

Premium mobile game based on the hit CBS series, took over creative lead after creative director quit

Impact

  • Started as lead narrative but took over creative direction together with the lead game designer when the creative director quit the project due to not being able to handle working with CBS and other external stakeholders.
  • Delivered the full product on time, within budget and with the quality that was expected.

  • The full game consists of 6 cases that were developed by me and the creative director and are canon with the official CBS series.

ALT-FREQUENCIES

lauded dystopian audio only game for all platforms including smart speakers, I was narrative design lead and voice director

Impact

  • Cast and directed over 60 voice actors in 3 languages (English, French and German) in two countries in their own respective languages.
  • Developed a new way of designing monologues and dialogues, enabling texts to be interrupted and restarted more fluently to improve seamless player interactivity and complete freedom.

  • Developed a new digital/live hybrid theatre format that takes elements from existing immersive projects, but combines them within a completely new structure.
  • Was able to emotionally touch many audience members in a positive way.
