About the game:
This mobile solitaire game is all about Casey deWitt, new to the police force. Togethet with her colleagues at the bureau she solves multiple exciting cases, finding clues aling the way in level gameplay. But there is also something bigger at stake here; secretly, Casey is trying to solve the mystery of her murdered brother…
What I did:
This game was softlaunched with gameplay and locations partly in place, but with only a hint of a storyline. I was brought in to develop cases, characters and clues and align the narrative design and placement of the dialogue scenes. I designed a specific narrative flow in which the clues that were found in the case not only corresponded with the locations, but would also propel the story forward. The player would need to feel that these clues really led them through the story and helped them solve the case, other than just unlocking the next level and/or part of the story. When the case gets solved at the end, it would be a logical conclusion stemming from all earlier clues and discoveries, giving the player the satisfaction of knowing that everything they did, directly led to this ending.
Next to this I wrote all dialogues for level 1-1500.
I also assessed and coached new dialogue writers and developed a design and writing template and flow for them, so they would be able to understand and work with the core narrative design more easily.
